Bamileke Feather Headdress (Juju Hat) White

$595.00 $0.00

This striking wall feature for the home is hand made with chicken feathers, traditionally designed to be worn as a headdress for a royal African Bamileke tribal ceremony.

It has been hand stitched to a raffia fiber base and then covered with material, allowing the headdress to splay outwards into a stunning circular display. It is a beautiful addition to any home, and is available in a number of colours.

The Bamileke tribe originates in the south of Cameroon, Africa. The traditional use of these feather headdresses, also known as ‘Juju’ or ‘Tyn’ hats, during dignified royal ceremonies, symbolises the prosperity and extraordinary beauty of birds. The headdress collapses inwards for safe, easy storage.

As appreciated with handmade products, each headdress will vary slightly.

Handmade in Cameroon. Dimensions approx: Diameter 77 – 85cm / Depth 15cm / Weight 1.8kg.
