These bowls are handmade out of unused paper labels, which are then lacquered to achieve a durable, water resistant finish. The women who make these bowls are supported by a non-profit organisation in South Africa that focuses on providing holistic community and family support.

African women living with HIV and AIDS historically bear the brunt of the disease, where marginalisation and poverty are all too common. Through involvement in these programs, they are empowered through skills training, education and employment under fair trade conditions, and embraced through assistance with health care, and home and child support when in need.

As appreciated with handmade products, each bowl may vary slightly.
